Dear Reader,
When my buddy Lauro first approached me about enabling blog functionality on this site I cringed. Not for lack of confidence or enthusiasm, but because I fear letting you inside of my world. Somehow, I’ve developed the notion that operating in silence validates the work even more; that holding the journey closer to my chest makes the success more “mine;” and most significantly, that it signifies humility. This is a roundabout way of saying I’m selfish. When I posted on Instagram about qualifying for Olympic Marathon Trials in December of 2022 I noted, “There’s so much I want to say and so much I want to keep to myself.” I think I’m ready to talk about all of that now. I’m not sure what it’ll provide, but if the misfortunes and failures and losses and lessons have somehow amalgamated to the beautiful life that I live I now, I’d like to offer you a slice of it; and hope that in turn, you might create something beautiful out of it too. Given that that beauty would be both mine and yours, that is meaningful. That is productive. That is legacy. I hope to leave one behind one day. If you’re reading this, you will be part of that.
